Thank you, kind stranger

I thought my awkward moment of the day was blog-worthy.

So, I was studying at Starbucks like I normally do when this couple came in.  I was sitting at a bigger table and there was only a tiny table for one person left, so being the good person I am, I offered them my table and moved my stuff to the smaller table.  Doing so I walked past this old man who was just sitting there, but I didn't think anything of it.  About thirty minutes later, the old man got up to leave but he swung by my table to leave me a note.  I automatically assumed that it was a "keep up the good work!" kind of note, but surely I was wrong. Here's the actual note.

After receiving that note I was extremely paranoid and creeped out so I went home to find that yes, I actually did somehow manage to rip my pants. My favorite pants. That I've only had for a little over a month.  Typical Kath moment right there.

My immune system hates me

Anyone who knows me can probably tell you that I have I'm allergic to like, everything.  And I have tons of things wrong with me.  And I get sick all the time.  And I'm really clumsy.  And I have really bad luck.  And I'm really, really, really bad at talking.

For real. If you don't believe me, here's a list of my known allergies:
Pets (specifically PUPPIES. Dogs too, but I like puppies more.)
Insect stings (Apparently my blood is delicious too because I always get at least a hundred bites)
Dust
Tree nuts (specifically walnuts, but I'm to avoid all tree nuts which means no Nutella)
Skin allergy (This just means I get rashes and hives randomly)

On top of all that, I have pretty bad asthma, Raynaud's disease, patella tendinitis in both knees, and my orthopedic told me I show signs of rheumatoid arthritis.

A lot of people have told me countless times that I need to be careful with what I do and eat because I'm such a hazard, but I rarely listen and continue on living my life.  I should probably be more careful, but you know what?  I have a God who's stronger than my weaknesses and who will heal me and protect me under all circumstances. Rather on dwelling on the negative, I plan on live my life fearlessly for the Lord.

"They do not worry about how short life is, because God keeps them busy with what they love to do."

I promise I'm not dead

I just really, really, really stink at this whole blogging business!
Warning: this blog is kind of long...

It's been one of those crazy months where I'm out of town every weekend.  Seriously.  First weekend of October I was camping with a group of awesome people from church in Lawton, Oklahoma.  It was my first time camping (I know...shocking.  I grew up in the city of Boston, so I was deprived) and rock climbing EVER. I honestly was pretty nervous, but turns out I had nothing to be nervous about because it was such a fun experience! It was so great to get away from the stress of everything and to be in a place with no distractions- no internet, no schoolwork, no TV, and no phone (I turned it off!).  SUCH a great weekend with the Lord and fellowship with friends.  The weather was pretty chilly, but on the plus side, my hands only turned blue once!  For those who don't know, I have a disease called Raynaud's Disease and when I get too stressed out or too cold (that's the main thing) the blood vessels in my hands clog up and my hands turn blue due to the limited oxygen supply in them...not fun.  I'm looking forward to the next time I get to go camping!

The group!

Rock Climbing

What a great reminder that God's with us everywhere we go, even when we're alone in the mountains.

Friends hiking

So last weekend the original plan was that my roommate and I were going to go home with a friend to Groesbeck, TX.  Then plans changed and I was going to go to Austin with another friends.  Then plans changed again and I got to go visit my boy in Huntsville and go home for the weekend! Big reason why I went home was because my car needed work and I'm too much of a sissy to go to the mechanic by myself. And I missed home. Tomball, TX is where it's at!

So last Thursday I stopped in Huntsville for the afternoon and got to check out my boo's place and campus. Then we went to eat dinner at this cute little restaurant and there was a bug in my tea! Typical Kathy problem right there!  Another typical Kathy moment- I felt bad for the restaurant so I didn't say anything.  I mean that bug was just extra protein, right?  After that, I got to spend an awesome weekend at home where I got to see my family, one of my best friends, my boyfriend, and I ran into my youth pastor which was great.  AND I got my car fixed, new brakes HOLLA!

It was so great to see this "Welcome to Tomball" sign

My 11 year old baby brother, Kevin!

Found this pretty place on SHSU campus where we finally got a nice picture together!

And Danny's mom got me these touch-screen compatible gloves for the cold weather!

This past Tuesday, I had my interview for Pine Cove and I really feel God calling me to work there.  He has put so many great people in my life that have been blessed by Pine Cove and who have inspired me to work there.  I planned on doing summer school this summer, but let's face it, I am not ready to leave the camp life! This weekend, I will be headed back to Huntsville with my wonderful friend Brettany for SHSU's homecoming game! I am so stoked because my core group of friends from the Y will also be there this weekend so I get to see their beautiful faces! Shout out to my day camp family!

I'll try to get into the blogging habit after this weekend, but no promises. It's midterm week for Kath, y'all.

There's a first time for everything

This weekend will be a weekend of firsts.
First time going camping.
First time going to Oklahoma.
First time rock climbing. (Like legit, real life rock-climbing...not the sissy indoor rock-climbing)
First time rappelling.
First time I'll be turning off my phone for an entire weekend voluntarily.

I'm nervous, but very, very excited. I pray that this weekend, I will be able to leave all of the worry and stress of school, looking for a job, planning for next summer, school, always trying my best, school, and everything else behind and really just focus on spending the weekend away with God.  I hope that I will create strong bonds and friendships with the 18 fellow college students I will be going with.  I pray that God keeps his hand on us and we will be safe and have loads of fun.  I pray that God just uses this opportunity for us to get closer to each other and to him. I'm so grateful for this experience. Keep us in your prayers!

Here's some of my college small group!

Have a good weekend!

My lymph nodes hate me

Today I woke up in a let's-conquer-the-world mood.  Then I started to think about all the studying I still had to do (nerd alert), how busy/exciting my week was going to be, and how perfect the weather was outside (sarcasm) and I quickly started to lose the good mood.

I did get to go study and get a lot done at my fave place, Starbucks, but I also had to go run errands in the rain and got soaking wet doing so. It's not like I had to do outside work, I just had to pick up a couple of items from Wal-mart and Lowe's. Yet it was raining so hard, one trip from the store to my car and I was soaking wet. And I mean soaking. You know how your mom always said playing in the rain will get you pneumonia? Well, if your mom didn't...mine did. All the time. I don't think I got pneumonia, but my lymph nodes are swollen now and I'm blaming the rain. Darn you, rain!

Yes, I decided to take a picture before turning on my car to get warm and yes, I am wearing my drill  team jacket from high school.  Go Charms!

I stink at blogging

My goal was to post at least once a week, but that obviously didn't work out. I guess I'm just not cool enough to blog. Actually, I've just been so overwhelmed with studying, but hard work sure does pay off! So in the past couple of weeks, I have:

Pierced my nose
First "rebellious" thing I have done my entire life. I'm still shocked I actually had the guts to get it done.

Studied bugs

For the record, I hate cannot stand biology. I'm a Marketing major...I do not need biology. Please ignore my nails in this picture.

Became famous

The rooms and I totally autographed this for her boyfriend's 20th birthday.

Changed my political party
Because pizza is awesome.

Got a surprise visit from my boyfriend
He's the best. But seriously. My favorite part of September so far.

Found where I truly belong
Pretty self-explanatory

Went to the ballet
I should add "FO FREEE"

So, that's been my life recently. Imagine all of this with a bunch of studying in between, and by studying I mean nonstop studying. This is where my boyfriend would probably say "typical Kath".

Well, no one will probably read this but see you later, alligators.

Welcome, welcome

(If you read that in the voice of Effie Trinket, I approve)

So I have joined the blogging world, bear with me because I'm new to this.  You see, I want to journal...but pen and paper just doesn't work for me. This is what I have resorted to.

I am excited and anxious to start documenting my life.  I promise I won't be good at this at first, but this is will be a learning process for me and whoever reads this, which will probably be....well, me.

Until next time,

Kathy
